Check Engine Light

My 95 Cav 2.2 has some issues... well.. lots of issues. The main one im trying to figure out is why when I accelerate the check engine light comes on. When its idle the light isnt on, only when I accel. Any ideas?

Re: Check Engine Light

Check your trouble-codes? My info shows you may be OBD11, in which case, you would need an OBD11 code reader or scanner. Some of the national brand auto stores will read codes free of charge. Ask them. If your OBD1, you can get the codes yourself. OBD1 has a 12 cavity connector, 6 on top, 6 on bottom. OBD11 has a 16 cavity connector, 8 on top, 8 on the bottom. There is probably a sticker under the hood that states whether you are OBD1 or OBD11.

It sounds like the mixture may be going rich or lean on accel, that is just a guess. You could see how the 02 sensor responds when you rev-it-up.
