Received My Evolution One Kit

Guess you guys remember I got an Evo Kit off Sg Yahoo Auction right? I just receive it today !

It is not shrink wrap but everything in the box is still in their plastics seals. Well, quite good. Photoetched parts are included, decals are great but start to turn yellow a bit. ( any solution for it ? ) , Enjoy the pics.
I will start building it next year cause i need to finish two Tamiya Evo VI.
Cheers !!!

Re: Received My Evolution One Kit

Nice kit!

For yellowed decals, put them in a ziploc baggie and tape them to a south-facing window for a week or two: The sun bleaches the yellow white, and doesn't usually affect the rest of the decals. I tried this on some from my Tamiya Renault 5 rally car and it worked pretty well.

Re: Received My Evolution One Kit

By 'ziploc' I mean those sandwhich bags with the little seals at the top, when you press along them it closes up the back and keeps your food fresh. In America at least, Ziploc is a brand name, but it's become the generic term for it, like everybody calls a tissue a Kleenex, or a bandage a BandAid.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ziploc

You want a bag that can be sealed water-tight because windows get moisture on them sometimes, especially when the indoor and outdoor temperatures are different (It's below freezing outside here, and I get some nice droplets on the inside of my windows): One guy just taped his decals to the window and they ended up getting glued there over time.

Do you have access to a scanner? You could scan your decals and, in case something bad happened, you could at the very least have them re-printed on decal paper. I do this to all my decals anyway, even the ones still in production, just in case I need some small logo or something.

Re: Received My Evolution One Kit

Yeah, you could use any plastic bag, but one that seals tight to keep moisture out is preferable.

I do have an Evo VI kit, and I can scan the decals for you (I'm going to do a whole batch at once, sometime soon I hope).

For printing, if you have a good color printer you can put them on sheets of decal paper that are sold in many hobby websites. The only catch is that you can't 'print' white, because printers see white as blank paper. If you need a white decal you have to either print it on white paper, and trim away the rest, or print it on clear paper and apply the decal over some white paint or decal.

There is/was a line of ALPS printers that will print white decals, but they are expensive to buy and keep working. Some people here have them and might print you some for a small fee. You could also try a sign or print shop and see if they can help.

Re: Received My Evolution One Kit

cham2020, maybe if you're looking for decals you could try using the CLASSIFIEDs thread?

And use the PM feature?
