Elctrical problem

Hi All

My First Question here.

I have a 1993 Legacy. I have gone through 3 alternators. I have also replaced the battery. I’m now convinced that there must be a dead short somewhere. The alternators must be under quite a load because the drive belt is fraying as it is drug over the alternator pulley which leads me to the thought that there is a short. Everything seems to work in the car it’s just that I am going through alternators.

Got any ideas what might be wrong or how to find the short???
