Angry No HOT heat and fan roaring

Just replace core and radiator; flushed and changed from orange to green antifreeze. No gurgling now, and some heat...measures 132 deg. F on digital thermometern while idling. Temp. guage never gets above 165 degrees. Replace 195 deg. T-stat to no avail. Mechanic now thinks there could be seepage around T-stat or engine runs rich causing it to run at lower temp.
Fan has intermittent 'roaring' ...up and down... continously...with heat control switch OFF.
Any suggestions as to how to get the Temp. guage to the 195 setting; and how to get more heat?

Bad fan clutch, kicking on too soon, causing engine to run cool?

That sounds like it, but the dealers never agreed with that suggestion when I mentioned it to them.
Last couple summers we noticed the fan 'roaring' during the summer months when first pulling out with cold engine...it actually scared the wife.....as she thought the engine was going to blow up. Back then the dealer said it was normal in the summer as the engine needed extra cooling. He explained that the fan clutch has oil in it...and that when it got hot it spins more?
Another mechanic offered to replace the fan clutch, but we passed on it when we decided to replace the heater core and radiator...etc.

I'll look into the fan clutch scenerio you described. Thanks

Remove the clutchfan from the waterpully and let warm up to operating temp. If you get up to 195 you found the problem. Replace with an e-fan

Re: No HOT heat and fan roaring

makes sense. Any reason why the clutch fan will 'roar' sporatically like that?
I have an S-10...same engine...that I'm going to switch the t-stat with...just in case the new t-stat is defective.
What is e-fan?

The reason it roars is that the clutch is worn out and not disengaging properly.

And e-fan means electric fan. Alot of us run those to eliminate the roaring, get slightly better gas miledge, more controlable, takes the weight off the front of the engine. Neatens up the engine compartment.

Re: No HOT heat and fan roaring

I have a brand new fan clutch and it roars when I first start the vehicle, but once I drive for about a minute it goes quite.

That's normal because the viscous fluid is still cold and engages the clutch... His problem is that it's constant.

Re: No HOT heat and fan roaring

Well, we got blasted here in Pittsburgh with a foot of snow last night, so I couldn't do any work on the Blazer. I'll work on it this weekend, and post again as soon as I learn anything new.
Thanks

LOL a foot?? Only got 3 inches here...(North hills)... Though I'm glad all is well with my truck at this point, my garage is too filled to put it inside, only enough room for the wrangler...Need to drive out to RIDC today though, not looking forward to it... Too many morons don't know how to drive.
