Headers or Intake ??

Ok so I don't know much about cars... I have a 1995 Civic DX 2Dr and I was intrested in getting a little more performance & Hp for my little car... I know a short arm intake is a quick cheap fix, a Cold Air Intake is a little better... Headers I know nothing about really.. What's the advantage of a 4-2-1 one piece compared to a 4-2-1 two piece ?? Or a 4 into 1 ??? WTF is the difference ?? I'm fairly sure that if I want the desired results i'm looking for I should probably get both right ?? Any help/advise would be appreciated... Please speak normal english if you can, my car knowledge is very limited... I'm suprised I even know what I just typed...

Thanks...

Re: Headers or Intake ??

depending on the header design youll get power at different points in the powerband...if you just want a LITTLE more power get intake header and exhaust...if your a little more serious about making your car faster there are more options...

Re: Re: Headers or Intake ??

Meaning the acceleration in different gears ?? I'm looking to just get more response when I press the pedal, in first or 5th... What do you suggest... Thanks for the quick response...

Also should i not even worry about any Mods if my engine has 140k on it ?? Should I just wait for the eventual swap ??

Re: Headers or Intake ??

how much $$$ do you have? or how much are you willing to spend? about the header 4-1 will give you more power in low rpm and 4-2-1 header will give you more power in the higher rpm...so you can make that decision...most people with hondas go with the 4-2-1 design because hondas lack of torque

Re: Headers or Intake ??

and generally a 4-2-1 is cheaper and definately easier to install...i would get the one piece so that you have one less gasket in your exhaust that could leak...

but honestly there isn't a lot you can do to make that stock non-vtec engine a lot faster.....sorry

That's not true.

Since you're a newbie though. Get an intake first. Then if you like get a 4-2-1 header. Note: 4-2-1 is for low end and 4-1 is high end. If you want to keep that engine and/or rebuild it you don't need vtec. There are other options, but it depends on what you want.

Re: Headers or Intake ??

all that stuff istn't going to make that engine a lot faster tho....its going to help without a doubt, but its not going to make a huge difference....

The only way to make a D fast is to put it in a light car or boost it....

what we mean by D is a D series engine...which is what you have now and is what most civics have without a swap

Re: Headers or Intake ??

Seeing that I have 140k miles should I just wait to do anything before I swap ?

Re: Headers or Intake ??

are you going to swap for sure...you could save your money, rebuld the d, maybe a mini me (nonvtec to vtec head swap), then boost the shit out of that engine!! You could make 300whp daily on a built turbo D.....or you could make less or more depending on your budget and goals....

bisi; nonvtec d15 and f22. yes its alot of money, but its still nonvtec. the only disadvantage to nonvtec is bad idle with high duration cams; if you can live with a high idle though it wouldnt be a problem. Hell, theres a guy with a D15B2 racing in a SCCA event thats pushing about 160-170whp; more than some b16s.
