01 LS manual transmission
I am trying to solve a problem on an LS manual transmission. The output shaft seal is leaking and the dealer says they connot get the output shaft seal and the transmission will need to be replaced at a rather expensive cost. It looks like the output shaft seal is not that hard to repalce, if I can get one. Thanks

That seems like a load of bull. It's a Getrag "221" transmission if that helps, but I can't give you much more...I just don't know...
I went to fordpartsnetwork and they only list a "extension housing seal" or complete transmission. THe tranny was about $1,700 and the seal didn't have a price listed. You could email Torrie and see what's up. You could try the Getrag website, as well.

alot of bmw's used getrags, maybe that will help? Also the volvo community at turbobricks.com has been putting getrags into rwd turbo volvo's maybe they know something.
