Stay away...

How much of a budget do you have, I and other members here can recommend some subs in your price range.

lightning audio subs are good...not the bolt series though. the storm and strike/strikeDVC are good. you can probably find the single voice coil strike series for $50 (12"). they will handle 200 watts RMS. upgrade to the DVC and it'll handle 400 watts RMS. the DVC is $100 though. as for the storm, the 12" can be found for $250 online. they will take more than 1000 watts. roughly 1100watts to get them moving. just hook them up to a JBL 1200.1 amp and they will take the power fine.

bolt=bad
strike=good
storm=good

there are too many unknown things we have yet to know about you. what are you trying to obtain? what is your goal? do you want super loud bass or super clear bass (sound quality)? price is a big factor. witout price, there is an infinite amount of subs that we can recommend to you. as for the Alpine subs, they come in three levels: Type R(top of the line), Type S(lower line), and Type E which can only be found at your nearest circuit city store.

Type R will have the best sound quality and larger motor structure. they are rated to handle 400 watts, but there are so many people running them with 700 watts and more. i would opt for the Type R if you're going with alpine subs. the others aren't that great and not as loud. if you look on the net, you can find some 12" type R's for only $129 shipped.

JL W0s. Very nice and clean, plenty of thump for a non-competition system, and less than $100 per sub. They sound great with 250rms, but I wouldn't suggest it for too long.
