Leaving car for three months -immobliser

I am going away and am not sure that my battery will last for three months and want to avoid immobiliser problems when I return to a flat As the car is securely parked my plan is to:

Leave the key in the ignition.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove key from ignition.

On my return do the reverse procedure.

Is this a sensible plan? Is there a better way? Can I lock the car without setting the immobliser?

It is a 1999 Laguna 3.0 V6 auto with facturoy installed immobliser, alarm etc
