Talking dirty ol POS vs new skool POS

Well, it's been awhile since I've had something to tell... hasn't it?

Mostly because I've been without a race worth vehicle, but not no more... with the Z28 back in action and the rearend warranteed for a year. I fear not abusing it. MuwahaHA.

Actually, I still drive it like a Granny... who has a heavy right foot on that rare occasion.

So, this week Mom.. aka the Boss is in Hawaii on vacation soaking up the warm tropical weather while I, run the business back in cold Southern California... Ok, so it's not cold here, just a bit cool. Low 60's about right now.

The one big job we had to do today was fubbared by the customer not having his shit together, and not being readily available to fix it. Thus, rescheduling... thus with nothing more to do. I told my co-worker to head home. And I did the same... at roughly 10am.

Fire up the Ellis Juan, windows down. Enjoying the cool weather, with the sunshining... not a cloud in the sky. Picture perfect weather for a cruise.

Get out onto the main street for the five and half mile jaunt home, come to a major light. Due to it being early in the day, and most folks already at work the streets were relatively quiet... and low and behold I pull up next to a 2005 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona...

How fun.

I have no real intention of messing around, but I pull up and look to my left and see a guy roughly my age, early 20s, at the wheel. The guy returns the look, I give him a friendly nod. He just turns away.

Light goes green, I roll out normally and short shift cruising away. He takes off normally, but goes a bit faster than I. No biggie, I'm in no rush to get home...

Come to yet another light. His window is down now as I roll up...

"Hey, let's see what that thing can do." He says out the window to me.

I smile, and nod no... "Nah, it's all good man."

I guess the guy didn't like my answer so he started to lurch the car a bit forward by power braking the Charger. The Hemi Bro! was making noise...

"C'mon, lets see what the Chevy will do. I got 350hp man." He trys to egg me on.

"Yeah? Neat, So do I. But I didn't need a Hemi to make it." I reply with emphasis on the Hemi.

Light goes green, he rolls away fairly quick. But not fully on it, I can tell... I think he was hoping I'd chase after. I didn't.

Continue on a few blocks more, we hit yet another red light. Bummer...

"I bet that dirty old piece of shit can't even keep up... " He power brakes it again.

Nobody calls my car a piece of shit except me. They don't pay the repair bills, they don't have the right to call my car a piece of shit... that is my honor and mine only... But they can call it dirty, cause it really is dirty... so I casually reach over for the traction control and click it off. Look to my left and let out a nasty 4500rpm rev.

For a split second the guy had a slight "crap" look on his face. But then got his game face on and looked ahead. I did the same watching the opposing light.

Light goes green, I let the clutch out a roughly 1700rpm getting a pretty damn good launch. Wind out 1st gear, slamming 2nd at 6100rpm getting an ass wiggle outta the shitty 245 rear tires.

He takes off in typical automatic fashion with a decent launch, although I gained half a car from my above average launch.

Holding 2nd gear to roughly 6000rpm I gained over a car, I slap 3rd gear hard the rear suspension squats once again and I hold 3rd to roughly 80mph and let off... with about two and a half car lengths ahead.

I quickly slow back down to 40mph... he stays back. As luck would have it, another red light. As I thought of something to say... he reluctantly pulls up. His window was still down as I looked over and he looks back, I purposely look at the fatty Hemi badge on the side of the car.

"Hemi... sweeet.."

Roll my tinted window back up, complete with bird doodie on it. This was a short light, and I take off completely normal listening to some tunes. He goes along his business and leaves me be.

But, I must say... the GoManGo! paint job on the Chargers is nice, and they do sound good. Overall, I find the Charger asthetically pleasing to the eye even if it has 4 doors. The SRT8's are pretty sweet though. One of those would trounce all over me...

Its 14 outside right now. Fuck you.

OH-

Nice kill, they do look ok, but I still think a REAL Charger should only have two doors...and a shaker scoop so loud it gets banned in some states. Good kill none the less, love the "Hemi...sweeet". Did you say it in a Cartman voice, cuz that woulda been the shit.

Haha 50 here. Sucks for all those getting frostbite.

Good kill. Not a big fan of the non SRT chargers. Yeah its got a big engine and hp, but it weighs so friggin much! Way to show him where he is in the scheme of things.

I agree with ya Cassies, if the charger was 2 door, with a shaker and lighter, it would be a pretty sweet car.

I agree... I can't wait for the 'Challenger' that seems to be in the works.

In the grand scheme of things, my car isn't that high up on the food chain. But it does ok... for a piece of shit.

Re: dirty ol POS vs new skool POS

Apparently the cut 4 inches off the 300c/charger chassis from 120 to 116.

6.1 liter Hemi with a 6 speed manual... 2 door... smaller chassis... Could be a badass car.

matt lol that is hilarious, yes the right to call your own a pos is your right only. i hate it when other people call my car a pos. only i can call it that too! anyways yeah i hate the chargers, one of the ugliest cars on the road. it looks like chrysler inbreeded the 300c with the maginum. however the SRT 8 version looks very very beefy which i like, but too bad it weights as much as a light truck.
