93 chevy astro starts and then dies wont stay running at idle

Hi Starts If Cold , After 30 Seconds Dies Unless You Keep It Barely Off Idle, Replaced Fuel Pump, filter, egr, iac Valve, With It Running You Can Watch The Tbi Injectors Putting Fuel In ,but Idle After A Few Seconds The Gas Just Shuts Off, It Will Start Again If I Use Starting Fuild Can Keep It Off Idle, If I Let It Run For Ten Minutes And Get It Hot. It Will Stay Running And Sounds Good Until You Go Down The Road With The Engine Cover Off It Sounds Like The Timeing Off Alot Of Engine Knock Like Bad Gas, Plus Its Seem To Be Idleing A Little Low. Even Swaped Out Computers With A Friend Did The Same Thing, Have Good Vacum , Runnig It With Fuel Presure Gage Stays At 12 Lbs Even When It Dies Help If It Wasnt My Dads I Would Put A Match To It,what Would Make The Injectors Just Stop Like You Turned The Key Off . Forgot Even Replaced The Ingtion Swicth Hope Someone Out There Can Help Me Thanks Jeff

Re: 93 chevy astro starts and then dies wont stay running at idle

ah, found your other post.
Did the service engine light ever come on?
If not, replacing the iac was a waste.
Is your oil pressure gage working and reading ok?
The reason I ask is if the pcm thinks the oil pressure has tanked it will shut down the fuel pump in an attempt to save the engine.
The fuel pump relay may be going bad.
The throttle body might need a rebuild ($13 for the rebuild kit).
Also check the cables coming off your battery, and your battery terminals for that matter. A short or bad connection flutters power to the fuel pump.

any other symptoms when the gas shuts off? dimming of lights.

Re: 93 chevy astro starts and then dies wont stay running at idle

A bad O2 sensor will throw a code.
You will get false codes sometimes. I had a brand new tps crap out, codes showed both the tps and the map sensor. I replaced the tps and the map sensor code went away and never came back.
If it started with spray of starting fluid, and no codes are stored, it is most likely fuel delivery related.
If you haven't replaced it recently, replace the fuel filter, about 6 bucks. Could be the fuel pump relay. Could be the oil pressure switch (any erratic readings on the oil pressure gage?) If the oil pressure switch goes out, the PCM thinks the oil pump has gone and cuts power to the fuel pump.
And then, it could be the fuel pump. '93 hmm, if it's throttle body injection, the pump is cheap - a PITA to replace, but cheap. If a mechanic does it - not cheap.
It could be a clogged injector, but I doubt it.
Just to make sure it's not bad fuel or water in the system, run some Sea Foam in the gas. It'll clean the injectors and take care of condensation in the gas.

What year? What engine? Given that a "92&94" could be two different fuel systems, with two different sets of diagnostic procedures, it would be helpful to know that and any other relevant information.

Actually, it would probably be better to start an entirely new thread related to your question rather than piggyback onto a two-year-old thread.

We're all learning (or at least, I hope so). I just hate to see members' questions get lost or confused in others' threads. You'll probably get more dedicated attention in a thread specific to your truck's problem. Just trying to help you get good answers.
