99 S10 4x4 No reverse
I recently got into my ZR2 4X4 and was going to play golf and noticed my truck didn't want to up shift to 3rd gear or even into over drive. I could excelerate and then let off of the gas and then get it to up shift.
When I was finished playing golf I got in my truck to leave and notice I didn't have reverse anymore. It doesn't even try to engage in reverse. It will go into forward, even 4x4 hi and low. I put it into drive and held the brake to see if the transmission would slip, but it didn't slip at all.I was wondering if it was an electronic problem or mechanical. I am a certified electronic technician and have been for thirty years. I also work on all my cars and trucks, but never encountered anything like this. I'd appreciate any and all input on this problem. Does anyone have an idea? |

Definitely mechanical.
I just paid $1,600 to have this fixed. It can be caused eithe by stripped gears or a craking of a housing in the trnasmission. My probelm was stripped gears. The mechanism seems real cheesy and I am going to complain to GM. I am the only owner and driver of the vehicle and I have the Chevy dealer maintain the vehicle on the GM prescribed schedule. I also just replace the water pump and other heating/cooling elements for another $1,100. Merry Christmas |

My 95 blazer does this but it has 202k on the tranny... im just doing what i can to keep it running til i can rebuild the whole thing after winter... good luck looks like you should be looking into a remanufactured trans...NOT REBUILT THEIR JUNK!!
