Airbag Light

I just bought a 1996 Buick Regal Coupe. When I got it home I discovered the airbag light is on. Any ideas where I should begin to look for the culprit on this problem??
Thanks

Not sure about the 1996 Regal but in '97 and up we have a SDM (sensing and diagnostics) module for the airbags under the passenger side seat. You can check the connectors to the module. Also check the airbag fuse and make sure it is installed or not blown.

Other than that you really have to know what you are doing when working on a SIR system and I'd exercise caution. The dealer can run diagnostics on the SDM module or equivalent.
