Re: sleek light conversion ?

Whatever you do DO NOT get that kit on ebay. My dad got one for my all trac and it was no where near fitting. I am trying to make a better looking copy that would fit better. They offered no help with the fact that it didn't fit at all.

Re: sleek light conversion ?

I agree. That conversion on Ebay is very suspect. I looked into it out of curiosity a while back, and they give no info at all on the product or installation.
And you can even see in the photo examples they give that it looks like crap anyway. ...uneven, doesn't seem to follow the curve of the grill/hood, and the PRICE! No Way! for that price you should be able to make your own if you really want to.

I asked them what kind of lights they give you with the kit...you know, brand, type, power, etc...and they failed to respond to four emails. Which simply gives me the impression that they don't want to tell you that the lights are chinese junk.

One thing about this topic that I wonder about....why do guys want to make a pretty cool looking car look like something more "modern?"
The Pop-Up lights are very much a part of the over-all look of the car, and just because new cars don't have them anymore, doesn't mean that new cars look better. And the argument that air drag is reduced, is pretty silly. The headlights don't effect the car's handling, or stability, or really anything actually. Weight is negligible also.

Pop-up lights are cool. In a retro kind of way...but cool none the less.

they affect aero dynamics when they are up

ya i saw that kit too, some people just want them to go with a "look" they are putting together for their car, its personal pref, but the product did look iffy, I say make your own if you are capable

i like the pop ups though

Ok, I know that "everything" effects aerodynamics in some way....but seriously, how much effect can they have?

After all, Corvettes, Farraris, Lamborginis, and many more extremely high performance autos have used pop-ups for over thirty years. And these are cars designed, and capable of 150-200 mph road speeds.

but you're right, to each his own...its just personal preference.

Re: sleek light conversion ?

Honestly I have always hated popups, even the ones on Ferrari's. They are just never very good looking when they do pop up. Plus I want some weight reduction and those motors are weight directly on the front end which is where i am tryin to drop weight. Cars look great with popups during the day if they are down, but the moment they dome up I cringe.
