Electrical From Hell????

i have a 2002 GT. about a month ago my car wouldn't start, had the battery tested and it was dead. about a week before i changed the battery and up until today some strange things have been happeneing. First, the service vehicle light went on, then when i hit the breaks the radio would cut out and the clock would reset but it wouldn't affect my presets and the headlights would dim. then when i would try to start it the starter would cut out in the middle of it starting. so today i checked the alternator and it's reading 14 volts. right after i tested the alternator i went to hit "door lock" on my keyless entry and nothing happened. so i opened the door and none of the lights went on, went to start it and nothing. then i hit the breaks and all of a sudden i had power again.

please help! the downside of all this is i have 2, 2002 grand am GTs and am anticipating some hell with the both of them!

Check for corrosion on the positive battery cable..if it is corroded, REPLACE it

Strange as it sounds, check your fuse for the cigarette lighter. Was the fault on my blazer. similar symptoms.

Another thing to look into is the ground cable make sure it's connected properly because you will ahve similiar problems. Also did you replace the battery or did you just recharge it, because your battery could be faulty ann cause the same problems

IF your battery cables (both of them) are clean and tight, I'd bet it's an ignition switch or a BCM, both fairly common problems on these cars.
