2000 Elantra
I searched this forum and i couldnt find any answer related to my problem. So here goes: I have a 2000 Elantra with approx 63,000 mi.
The car cranks but no start. The only time it will start if i spray starting fluid. Then it will start up fine, and the motor idles perfectly smooth. I have NGK platinum sparkplugs(still good). I checked the resistence of the spark plug wires the longest wire (2.975Kohm) and the shortest is about 7 inches long (1.450kOhm). This is a distributorless ignition system. Fuel injectors are working fine. And there are sparks at the plugs. There are no check engine light. TIA. |

Having the same problem. It is 4 degrees here and when cranking over I have no injector pulse. Plugs are good and I have spark. I also have no power to the injectors.

I'm getting injector pulse, and good spark, I'm beginning to think its the crank position sensor.
"Having the same problem. It is 4 degrees here and when cranking over I have no injector pulse. Plugs are good and I have spark. I also have no power to the injectors." When cranking, does your motor seems like it want to start but it can't? |

Sounds like you need a fuel pump. If you have spark and injector pulse your crank sensor is working.

Problem fixed. I located a new crankshaft position sensor. This is a 2.0L distributorless ignition motor. Part #39180-23500. The part # is also engraved in the sensor itself. This is the correct part for this particular engine/ecm. I purchased this other sensor part # 39180-23000. And the car crank but no start.
I replaced the crank position sensor because when its cold the car will start up and run fine. but as soon as i turn of the car(warmed-up). It will not start up at all. Until i remove the crank sensor and spray it down with brake cleaner and the car will start up again. |

Re: 2000 Elantra
I have a similar problem and believe it is my crank shaft sensor. Can someone tell me where it is located on the engine. And if there are any tricks in replacing it?
Thank You |
