Re: Parking Ticket in Toronto... Fightable?
Forget about it and pay.
Those SOB's at Toronto city hall have engineered parking tickets to be difficult to fight. 1. You must plead not guilty in person. This means taking time out of your day to wait 30 minutes in line to plead guilty. 2. At the court date, you will have to wait at least 2-3 hours out of your day just to get to your trial. 3. If you actually are guilty, your only hope of winning is if the parking cop does not show up. These guys LOVE going to court because they GET PAID EXTRA to go to court. Think about this: if you walk and write tickets all day, the chance to sit for 3 hours and read a book waiting for a court date (especially if its winter) is pretty attractive. So its likely he will show and you will be found guilty anyways. Include some travel times for 1 and 2 and your lost time from your job more than makes up for any money saved in winning. |
