obdII p0453

I own a 1998 sportage with the check engine light on obdII code as followed:P0453 Evaporative Control System Pressure Sensor High Input. I replaced the sensor on top of the fuel tank$$$$. I replaced the gas cap
and still the light is on. I unhooked the battery and it did go out, but just until I restarted it. I would be greatful for any help someone has.

Re: obdII p0453

No personnal experience on that subject but checked with others to come with only these: check for any leaks on all hoses that come from hte evaporative TANK to the fuel tank. Someone talked about the electrically actuated valve on one of the hoses with corroded contacts (you see it on THIS diagram and HERE in the car
thus as I understand, not acting or staying open. And some said the alarm disseappeared as mysteriously as it came. Hope this can help.

Check the purge valve and see if it is stuck open. I have exp. a charcoal cansiters loaded with fuel from customers overfilling the tank causing charcoal to come loose and get sucked into the PSV and hold it open.

I have also seen the wire for the Canister close valve get smashed by the canister when oil change facilities remove the canister to change the oil filter.

It is possible the picture is from the SOHC and there might be slight difference. Anyway, check this one also
