on your firewall below your brake booster and a little towards the center of the car.

You have to remove your battery to change it.

I've never pulled my battery to replace mine. Guess it might be a little easier to get at though. I want to give you a warning though. Do not remove the white plastic retainer clips unless you have new ones in hand. The old ones usually break when they come out. I remember stopping to help a guy once who was broke down in his Escort out in the middle of nowhere. He had, for some reason, decided to check his fuel filter. Both clips broke and he was stuck! Had to drive him 25 miles one-way to a parts house.

brake booster is the big black round thing connected to the thing you put your brake fluid in.

don't forget to shutoff your fuel inertia switch then run your car till it dies, then some, before you go pullin those clips. Otherwise, you risk getting a face full of gasoline.

Re: Where is my fuel filter?????

I'm about to do this and wanted too. How does the filter come out, does it just slip out of the white plastic clips? And the fuel inertia switch, is that the fuel shut off in the trunk area? I was worried about having air in the fuel line, will this be a problem?

Don't worry about air in the line.
Use a small flat screwdriver to gently pry the clips out... I've replaced mine now and then over the 10 years I've had the car and never broke a clip. Yes, the inertia switch is in the trunk.

Re: Where is my fuel filter?????

There's a saying that goes something like - 'If you don't know what you're doing, then maybe you shouldn't be doing it'. Call a friend that know what's going on to help you though it or go to the library and check out a repair manual. The first time is always a learning experience and you will make mistakes. The good news is that it things get easier the more often you do them, but with cars the mistakes can cost a lot of money...or worse, they can cause you physical harm! MM.
