slow cold start - 91 corolla
when it's cold here in texas (high 30s, low 40s) in the mornings my car turns over several times before it starts. it has started every time, but i have definitely noticed a delay in the cranking time when it's cold compared to when it's warm out. the cold cranking amps on my battery is 540, which shouldn't be a problem unless the battery is going out. also, in the 2 months i've had the car, one time the car died on me while it was standing still (last week). i think the rpms just dropped too low and it died, but cranked right up.
what do you guys think? |

Re: slow cold start - 91 corolla
try truning on your lights for a bit, i have a 91 corolla as well, and in the cold, it seems truning on the head lights for a bit warms up the elec. system and makes the car turn over quicker. Hope it works for you, good luck.

Check your cold start injector and see if it's working.

Re: slow cold start - 91 corolla
My 91 starts slowly in the cold too. I never had a problem getting it to start though except when the terminals were corroded. But its starts fine, just really slow and my battery is at 540 in cold amps.
