98 monte windows

Could anyone tell me how to take the door panel off without destroying it? I have to replace the window motor and it is a pain in the butt to get to. Any help would be great

Re: 98 monte windows

Just to clarify, I have removed the screws and can't seem to get it off the door handle/ armrest section. Everything else is loose. I also took out the insert for the handle and the window switch is loose. Thanks.

It's actually pretty easy - I've done it several times. I'll try to do this from memory, OK. Remove the screw in the middle of the door handle pocket and remove the plastic backing plate. There is a larger Torx screw in the upper handle part that holds the armrest to the door shell. Remove that, and slide the armrest toward the back of the car.
Lift the door trim pad upwards - you may need to very gently pound on it with your fist while lifting it up.
