First car - insurance and testdrive?

Hi,

I will be buying my first car soon but I'm kinda of sketchy on a few details. When I go to the dealership, how am I going to testdrive the car if I don't have insurance? How can I get insurance if I don't have a car at the moment? Or do they let you testdrive without insurance? I heard that they don't. If it makes any difference I'm in Canada. Also once I buy the car how can I drive it home - do I have to get insurance that same day before even pulling out of the dealership? Sorry for the n00b questions

Thanks.

When you get your liscense, you will be insured under you parents car. If you dont have your liscense yet then let your parent drive it to a big parking lot and then take it for a spin around there.

I know in MA, USA you dont need insurance. All dealerships are required to carry insurance in case of an accident with the vehicle. To get insurance on your car you need to register it first. Hope this helps a bit.

I have my G2 and going for G in the spring but my parent's insurance company sent this form which I had to sign stating that I won't be driving any of my parent's cars otherwise their premium would come up. So I'm not sure if I'm part of their insurance anymore

Well since you're in Canada the only class of vehicle you can legally operate without a license is a Zamboni

And I think there is a short period of time that you are allowed no insurance in the case of getting a new car. Upon signing for the car, call your insurance company and let them know you need coverage on it and you should be set.
