electric supercharger

Have any of you seen/ heard of this "electric Supercharger". I have seen it on Ebay. Heard from friends that it is just junk, but im wondering what/or if these things do if anything. There's also an electric turbo charger.

search BEFORE posting.

this topic is beaten to death atleast 2 or 3 times a month.

it is a neat idea, but the technology isn't valid, yet.

if you want to see what a real electric supercharger looks like and what it can do, use google and search for thomas knight turbo and electric supercharger.

not cost effective or efficient

spend your money on a turbo

here is alink to a real electric supercharger
http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0406tur_knight/

it is the best i have seen and it still isn't that good

costs as much as a turbo
is not capable of constant (or even prolonged) use
needs lots of batteries (lots of extra weight)

is this electric supercharger the same as one of those "speed chips" that you find on Ebay that susposedly add 20 HP just by attaching this little "chip" to your ECU that regulates your gas or what not. It sounds bogus, but then again I should be getting mine in the mail tomorrow, it was only 15 bucks. I just hope my gas milage dosent go down the shitter if I put it on. Any info on these things?

I don't know about Tiburons and if they can actually be chipped or not, but the chip you bought for $15 is junk and will only make your car run rich. I've heard some of the Cavalier people talk about how it messed up their car. When they took it off their car ran fine again. Remember...you get what you pay for, and there is no such thing at cheap mods. Do you honestly think $15 is going to get you 20hp?

Oh and yes it will mess up your gas milage.

Re: electric supercharger

those resistors actually lean up your car a bit, and do produce a little more power. problem is its a linear thing, which can cause damage in certain situations. this is why the proper way to lean up a car safely is to get a safc or something and go to a dyno. there is no certain value that fixes everything.

and the electric s/c are crap. there are some that are legitimate, but they are still in their infant design phase. they require a second battery and some capacitors(i think) that discharge a ton of current in a short amount of time, kind of like nitrous that can recharge. they are expensive though.
