91 ford bronco trans problem?

first little info, 91 bronco eddie bower edition, 5.0 motor, overdrive trans with 20 bolt pan, 4x4. now the problem i only have reverse and 1st gear but first gear is only for few feet. changed filter and gasket filled with fresh trans fluid up to crosshairs and still only have reverse and little 1st gear. 4x4 light and 4x4 low light stuck in on position. when i place vehicle in drive feels like it wants to move but does not. no previous trans slippage or grinding of gears felt or heard, it is auto trans, me thinks new trans is in order but would like some opinions!

Re: 91 ford bronco trans problem?

Maybe you can check the chilton's on how to adjust the bands?

There is a procedure for doing so, but you may need replacement parts. (like the locknut) and a 'special' tool...in this case, a 12-pt 3/8" socket. It has to be 12-pt, because the bolt is square.
