Question on engine codes

this is just for my knowledge really and its merits aren't really there

but does anyone know what the prefixes mean on nissan engine codes, such as the SR in SR20DET

the ## equals the displacement, D dual overhead cam, E electric fuel injection [i think], and the T is for turbo

RB/SR/KA/VG/VQ/CA what do those mean?? anyone

Re: Question on engine codes

i think there's an actual system they used to name them.. can't remember it though.. and it wasn't as 'fastandthefurious' as rb=race bred
