Blown Gasket

My car (1991 Chevy Corsica) suddenly blew a gasket today and started knocking. What do you think caused this to happen? I cannot afford any major work. What are my options?

What gasket blew? What is happening? Are you leaking coolant either into the oil or out of the engine block? What engine do you have? Please give more details. Head gasket? Engine missing?

I am sorry. I do not know the answers to your questions. All I know is that the car is ticking and I can smell either gas or oil.

Your "ticking" could be an exhaust leak, they can sound like that, and it would explain the smell possibly..
