Ok...

Brad your gonna get some flameage you shoudl expect that. yes it has been done the VG30DETT is capable in the 240SX. If I were you I would just swap the RB25 as where there is 10x more support for that swap then there is of the VG30. BTW the RB25 is an Inline 6 Turbo it will yield you about 280-300whp for 4500-5000 if you do everything yourself.

Yeah, unless you have connections for parts and do all the labor yourself (which will be a bitch) it is gonna be way more $...

Re: 240sx VG30DETT Swap

Engine-Cheaper, Swap- a lot more expensive. It was done before in a hot coupe. That thing was sexy. Do a search, you might find it.

Re: 240sx VG30DETT Swap

with a VG you also will not have very much clearance in the engine bay which will make a pain to work on. Id go for an RB25DET swap, more parts and still can make a lot of power (Just an I6 instead of a V6)

Re: 240sx VG30DETT Swap

youd end up using the RB25 tranny if you went that way anyways. And who wants TT anyways?

He better not expect that and it had better not happen. Answer the questions or don't, but do not flame.

the engne will be cheaper because they sold them in the us

the swap will be costly and hard to work on, due to very little space remaining

personally I would not go with it, if you want more power you could go many routes

sr20det
ca18det
ka24de [ turbo it]
rb20det [not worth to most]
rb25det [reasonable, but the sr and ka cheaper usually]
rb26dett [very hard to do and exspensive, can be done]

Re: 240sx VG30DETT Swap

Why must the newbs get away with such blatant stupidity in their questions, it's like if I went in the Chevy section and started asking "What's the best engine for my Malibu? Can I fit a Corevtte engine in there? That would so full super tyte yo, 700hp with rear wheel drive conversion, ohh baby and 4 doors!! what a cool car!!" I would expect to be flamed and would deserve it. Anyways, if you want 6 cylinders, get an RB, I6>V6, but just buy the damn car first and go from there, you'll realize that the car is pretty cool, even stock and you might think twice about spending 5k on it, you'll be spending alot on rust repair, unless you find a clean one, which could take a few months, so come back when you buy a car.

Re: 240sx VG30DETT Swap

lol i can see your point slidestar. It is true to an extent. I think it has to do with the recent nissan craze, and knowing that the 240 can have a variety of engines to choose from. But the real problem is that everyone is automatically set on getting rid of the KA. WHich is GRRRRREAT, THANK YOU SUPER STREET!!!! THe vg is not cheaper. THe sr is the route for you. Find the car, realize how much your going to spend to make it safe to drive and pass emissions and safety. Not to mention body work. I would rather have a nice clean well maintained running car than an old beat up rusty car with a sweet, cool, fast, car show accepted, everyone go crazy swap. Your going to find yourself replacing old crappy stock parts with aftermarket crap anyways.

KA24DET RX-7 is nice. Although I think a 13BTT S13 is sexier

And I'd rather put an LS1 in my S13 than a VG30. If handling is messed up anyways, why bother?
