'99 VW 2.0L AEG Jetta Alarm Problems
125,000 miles; no previous electrical problems; No previous electrical tinkering; Only variable is cold weather. Recently the alarm will not disengage during cold weather. The key remote won't work. If use key entry on the drivers side, the alarm will stay engaged (no blip sound)... and when I start the car the alarm starts. There is no way to turn it off because my remote key is INOP. Once the alarm shuts off, I use the key entry in the drivers side door and the alarm disengages (with a blip sound)? Anybody have a clue? It's almost like the alarm needs a bit of warm up during cold weather, ha! I joke about it now, but it's getting old fast. Could it be the wiring between the car frame and the door is work hardened and opened the circuit?

Re: '99 VW 2.0L AEG Jetta Alarm Problems
sounds like either faulty door latch or harness in driver door. pull back the rubber boot on my the hinge and see if there are any frayed wires.
