Ray Bellms' road going GTR was just on tele

On the Discovery Real Time Channel here in the UK, there was a 30 minute show on the Ford GT40. In this show they interviewed Ray Bellm outside his house, and it showed his GT40 and his F1 GTR. The girl interviewer (good looking, spoke posh, seen her before on things but can't put a name to the face) got to take the GT40 out with Ray driving his GTR behind, then they swapped places (lucky cow ). Both cars sounded great! Ray said the F1 was the closest thing he knew to the GT40, and the GT40 was the closest thing he knew to the F1.

God, i wish it was downloadable from somewhere!........

Sounds incredible. Also sounds like it was a few years old as the car would have been #16R and Ray sold it in ~2003.

HE HAS A GT40?

holy crap that would be amazing!

even a GT would be cool, but.......an actual GT40 would make me cream myself, I think.

Who says he'll sell it. Its up to the buyer to research these things. He knew the risks taking it racing. Sure, i'd be pissed, but its better than sitting in a museum for the rest of its life. The 250 GTO's were bashed and beaten within an inch of their lives when they were new, so how come now everyone is so uptight when "something" happens. I salute the people who take these cars out on the track and have some fun with them. If you want something to look at and admire and not use, collect paintings, not cars.

btw, the last GT40 at auction was at Monterey (RM) this year. It was the prototype and in pretty bad condition (from what i heard. I think it was slightly restored prior to auction) and sold for $2,502,500.

id also rather see it being used as intended rather than being a museum commodity, however i fail to see how saying that 'the car isnt as valuable as it once was' is being uptight? its a simple statement. and btw im referring to the barret jackson auction at pebble beach, or wherever it is, not the monterrey classic car auction, this was about 3-4 years ago, maybe more, and it was one of the gulf cars... and it sold for close to $3mil
i said the last gt40 at the barret jackson auction, not at an auction...

Sorry, it wasn't directed at you personally.

I fail to see why a 3-4 year old auction is important when cars have been sold between then.

because i was using it as an example of how valuable the original ford gt40's have become. as we all have seen, the F1 is well on its way to reaching these high values, in far less time than the gt40, with roadcars already being sold for 1.9 million...

not very well known, but Lanzante Motorsport did the conversion (they ran the 95 Le Mans winner). They have done three or four GTR's I believe
