94 3.1l engine noise

Car has approx 125000 miles. There is a ticking noise when the engine is cold. It is not noticable after approx 2 min of running. I was told the noise was injector & not to worry. Engine has been making the noise for quite some time, but lately has been much louder (can be heard in cab when you start car). Is it possible that an injector is this loud? Should I be concerned with valve train? Piston? How do I diagnose?

It's the lifters. It takes a while to get the oil up to them, especially when it's cold out, because the oil is thicker. It's not a big deal - very common. Just don't beat on it until it's warmed up, and you'll be fine.

I agree with Ridenour, it's a VERY common problem due to the engine design. Drive nice until the noise stops, and you'll be fine.
