Re: single turbo, one manifold??
If you can build a single manifold that bolts to a v engine I congratulate you.
You can build it, but bolting it to the engine will be damn near impossible.

Re: single turbo, one manifold??
i think what you are asking is where you should locate your single turbo?
should you locate it after one manifold (using the exhaust gases just from a single manifold). OR should you locate the turbo after both manifolds, using exhaust gases from both banks of the engine to drive the turbo. if you just use one manifold to drive the turbo, the setup will be much easiser. if you want to use both, then you'd have to locate the turbo in the downpipe somewhere, or do your own exhaust piping, which will be a bitch. check out some people on 3si who have done the single turbo conversion and ask them(IPO, RBurnett) . i'd like to see where they located their turbo, and what kind of piping they did.

Re: single turbo, one manifold??
Putting a turbo on one bank and letting the other just flow is a very bad idea

Re: single turbo, one manifold??
The turbo is usally located right between the fues box (passenger side) and the raditor pipe. I don't think it would be worth hassel trying to do 1 header. Hell people can't even get their stuff runing right with their twin header single turbo setups.
go on 3si and their is bunch of pics and info on their. When i get home i will post up some pics. good luck mahdi

most people who do a single turbo conversion put their turbo where madhi stated, in that vicinity. They make their own exhaust manifolds and exhaust outlet pipes. The exhaust manifolds come together before they go to the turbo. Seriously, from the results i have seen from single turbo 3/S's, your better off just using twins. A lot simpler, more available upgrades, and you don't have to custom fabircate anything.

A used turbo off a diesel should flow enough. It holds 30psi to redline on my truck, it should do the same on this car. And they can be had for 2-300. Then just make your own piping and oil lines. I dont think it would be that bad expencive. I figure Ill try when I get some more money. Maybe hide the turbo where the AC compressor normally goes.

Frankly, a big single turbo is definitely the better way to go on an inline engine, but twins seem to be more effecient on the V-6

Re: single turbo, one manifold??
so a twin.....hmmm what if i just put the single, and use both manifolds, cant i do that??? i could but it where the downpipe is right, i mean i aint no specailist in turbos or spelling for that matter, lol. but cant i get the same efficiantcy off a single turbo as i would an inline if i somehow used both manifolds. for one, it would spool a whole lot quicker, all i need is one side mount, and i could use a bigger turbo. but how would i do the headers???

Re: single turbo, one manifold??
ok ok for a single turbo VR4 its logical that we are talking in fabricating a single turbo kit, and yeah maybe for 1/4 mile single turbos are a great option but for highway runs a single turbo upgrade would be the best even for a V6 engine just make a custom exhaust manifold and downpipe and your done
