How about this

I got a '95 Civic with 114,000 miles on it used (1 owner) for 6,000 USD. After the 2 yr. warranty, the spoiler, the new sound system, mudflaps, spark plugs, 1 minor crash into a Galant, new tires, and alot of TLC, it came out to <8,500 USD. Perfect history and well maintained with great engine. Now it looks like this:

If you don't like it you don't have to tell me that! Call it ricey if you wish, but it serves a pupose. In case you were unaware, spoilers aren't only for downforce at 100+ miles per hour. This particular spoiler increases stability, cuts down on body roll in corners, reduces that shaking feeling when a large vehicle passes you, looks good, and most certainly does not slow you down. I wanted one this high so that my rearward vision would not be blocked. I wanted something to make my car stand out slightly from all the other red civics out there, so I gave it a big spoiler. I guess I should be happy instead of mad, b/c you just said my car looked fast. Furthermore it proves what a good deal I got! So thanks, and the rice is on me

You're joking right? the first things you said are true but a wing slows you down, that is a proven fact. Wings create drag

It is a proven fact? I have NEVER heard that. I am not calling you a liar, because i have never heard otherwise. Interesting, where did you hear that? and how much drag does it create? If you could tell me how much in Hp, that would be great. Or even a website with this info. A proven fact... sounds like you are sure about it. I might have to go buy a sport muffler to compensate now maybe a better filter and some new wires...and maybe...*goes on and on like he has the money to do so...*

ask anybody on AF they'll tell you a wing creates drag and therefor slows down your car...... not by much, but the point is to make your car faster

and the amount of drag created depends on the wing and how much air it catches

"I don't know, it just does"

"I'm not positive ... but it does"

I guess I'll have to conduct my own research. Pity you experts can't help. Perhaps I should look in 'The Book of the Fairies'.

Maybe it's in there...

So this miraculous piece of plastic dreaming not only provides crucial, yet equally distributed downforce at breakneck suburban road speeds, but also, under cornering, can magically and mystically direct its vertical energy toward the inside wheel only, thus reducing body roll?

AMAZING!!

For give me my usage of 'big words' ... I didn't mean to discombobulate you ...

ps "Do your own research"

chill, ok. The truth is not all of us here are automotive technical experts. That "peice of plastic" has been shaped and designed to do what we said it could do. The fact that I lack the knowledge to tell you exactly HOW it does it is irrelevant, and it is dubious that you could even find out for yourself, even if you bothered trying.

And just because I don't know what one word means doesn't mean I'm an idiot. I have a very extensive vocabulary, I'm sorry you feel you have to flaunt yours at others.

Sorry, I just get mad when people come questioning my knowledge with this big attitude, I shouldn't let it get to me. But what the hell, this is a forum!

gang$tarr is correct. everybody knows that. there is more air resistance against your car so it slows it down. e.g. the Mac F1 does 240. the F1 LM does "only" around 225, in case you didnt know, the LM has a wing. and the LM has 680 hp compared to the 627 hp F1. and i think everyone wants to know how that spoiler cuts down on body roll. that spoiler doesnt act as an anti-roll bar or strut bar, they're supposed to create downforce, but i dont know what yours does.

i can voice my opinion so if you dont want to hear what other people think of your car dont post pics of it
