'95 caravan, stalls completely when u turn the wheel

Howdy folks. Normally I post/ask questions about Lumina's as that's what I have running, but I have a weird one here:
Friend of mine has a '95 Caravan. Says that the engine stalls when ever the wheel is turned. Says rendering the van undriveable right now, as soon as st'ring wheel is turned, engine shuts off.
Says will start right up afterwards though based on what she says. Says has to move the van every once in a while or risk ticketing, so when she moves it from one side of street to the other, says it takes about 4-6 starts, or attempts as it stalls when wheel is turned even a little bit.

Possible wire problem somewhere in the steering column?
