Check your powersteering fluid level. I was running low at one point and the pump made noise and made the pedal feel as though the clutch was slipping slightly. It would also explain your steering problems.

Yeah I think only the GSi came with powersteering. As for buying the car a new clutch will set you back 8-900 CAD when it does go so I wouldn't call it a steal just yet. It all depends on how long that clutch lasts. Are you buying it certified for 1800 or do you still have to do that?

Hell, for that price you can't go wrong. Replace the clutch when she finally goes, and you'll still be ahead. These cars are cheap front to back. You can expect to take that thing up past 300,000 kms with regular maintenance. That's at least 8 more years of driving at 20,000 a year. And the cost of the gas that you'll save will eventually exceed the cost of the clutch. Worst case senerio, you can still sell the car for more than you're buying it for.

update

i put a piece of white paper under the leak its not grey i appologize! at first i had it dripping on green dry wall.... sorry again... on the white paper the liquid is a clear to very very light brownish , but very little browness . i would say looks a little dirty, i bought the mechanical repair manual from hyundai and i look at the pictures to try and best describe to you where it is comming from ( page Mt-17) if you have the book.

the Liquid is comming not from the drive shaft or seal, the liquid if this manual is correct with its picture is leaking on the very bottom of the CLUTCH HOUSING and BELL HOUSING.. the bell housing (the thin peice of metal ) *i didnt take that off yet* is right next to the oil pan...

what is up with this car... how is this liquid not empty yet....?

This is an M/T right? or is it A/T?

If it's an M/T...

It sounds to me like you have a transmission oil leak. Transmissions hold quite a bit of oil, and if thats what is it, then its probably coming from the main input shaft seal. If thats the case, the reason it seems to be never ending is that its only happening when the oil splashes up over the bottom of that seal. Then again, you could be seeing the drip at the "rundown point". It could be your clutch fluid leaking from the slave cylinder, dripping down to the bellhousing and dripping when it reaches the bottom. It could also come from the master cylinder, running down the hose to the slave cylinder, and then down the bellhousing. Your slave cylinder is located on the front of the trans, in relation to the front of the car that is. Look it up in the manual you bought, and check it out. If you are going to be replacing the clutch and all that, it makes good sense to replace that seal as well, its right behind the release/throwout bearing which has to be taken off anyways right?

If it's an A/T, well... I dunno. It definitely sounds like an oil or hydraulic fluid by your description. If it's A/T, your only oil and hydraulic systems (w/o P/S that is) are the engine oil system, and you have pretty much eliminated that, and your brake system. Check it out.
