reliability

Hey guy/gals. I'm thinking about trading in my cavalier for either an 06 Hyundai Tiburon GT or an 06 Chevy Colbalt SS non-supercharged. I'm trying to figure out how reliable the Hyundai is, because I hear that Hyundai's are not reliable from alot of people. I know about the Cobalts, since they pretty much use the same engins as the 2.2L Ecotec Cavaliers. I appreciate any info you can give me about the GT.

Thanks

Good point. Only thing I really don't like about the Tiburon is that it only gets 170 hp out of the V6. I'm weighing that against the 171hp the Cobalt puts out with the 2.4L Ecotec. Plus the better gas milage. I'm really stuck on the tiburon's looks though. Damn...this decision doesn't get any harder

Thanks for the reply though.

Re: reliability

Well, I've driven both (don't own a Tib yet, but want one) and the Cobalt I drove was the SS supercharged. I didn't like the shifter feel at all on the Cobalt or that huge rear wing (don't know if the non-supercharged ones have that).

Basically it comes down to which one you like better. No one can decide for you. If you haven't driven both, you should do it. The Tib feels like it's making a lot more power than the stats say.

Re: reliability

looks wise:
tib > cobalt

gas mialage:
colbalat (probably) > tib

response to mods:
tib (probably) > colbalt

warranty:
tib > colbalt

if it were my desicion between the 2, and had to do it all over again, id still choose the tib

I don't know about the response to mods part man. The ecotec engin in the Cobalts respond very well to mods...as does the Tib's engine. I'm leaning more toward the tib now though since I found out the Cobalts have a problem with the antilock brakes failing.

Also peachferrari, I think the wing is optional on the non-supercharged SS. I'm not sure if its the same wing, but I'm betting it is.

yeah 1 extra hp isnt going to get you there faster. and the tib is a 2.6 unlike the colbalt 2.4. and if you were to get one why not get it supercharged all ready?? imo the front of the colbalt looks good but the back looks really fugly imo

I know 1 extra hp isn't going to get me anywhere faster, just disappointed that the 4 cyl in the 2.4L Cobalt is faster than the 2.6 V6 in the Tib. I expected more out of the V6. Anyways...the reason I don't want the Supercharged one is because I want the bigger displacement, and I'd end up replacing the supercharger in it anyways since the one in it is pretty much maxed out on what it can put out. Again thats what I heard, since I don't own one I can't say for sure. But as I said in the previous post I made, the Cobalts seem to have a problem with the ABS, and that's something that I have a major problem with considering that a lot of people around here don't like to pay attention when they drive.
