Re: Audiobahn??

why do you want two amps. a single would be a better way to go. you need between 1000 and 1500 wrms. i happen to own an amp that would be perfect. could let it go for 700 bucks. itll give you 800 x 2 @ 2 ohm or 1600 bridged @ 4 ohm and that is at 12 volts. given 14, who knows what its putting out. probably closer to 2000. that way, if you ever get better speakers youll already have a good amp.

All the Audiobahns I've heard sound WAY better in a ported enclosure.

Re: Audiobahn??

nothin against JL at all, infact i've heard the 10w7 and personally think its amazing, but with the money you're gonna spend on the 13w7, atleast consider maybe waiting 'til january or something for the new XXXs or search for a Brahma. Everyone here's been raving about the new XXX's, and i see it everywhere that Brahma's are amongst the best drivers ever made.

EDIT: Also, instead of 2 drivers, why not look into a 15"?

EDIT: Make your own ported enclosure. they're big, though, if you want the right size. try making an isobarik with a port. it'll require approx. half the needed volume of one of the drivers. (ie if one driver needs 2cu.ft. for nominal performance, an iso box will only need approx 1cu.ft. for 2 drivers)

Re: Audiobahn??

You want to take a prefabed sealed box and port it?? Don't bother IMHO. Just keep the sealed, and build a ported, and see which you like better. If you don't feel like designing the plans, there are several people here who are more than compentent to do it, for a small fee. Building it is Easy!

Actually the JL w7 13's are pretty hard to compete with. I have the XXX 15" and it just slams the crap out of itself, even in my shotty, piece of crap box that is too thin and I'm probably barely pushing it's RMS, even with the 1500w Cadence amp. I need to upgrade to 2 gauge or 1/0 gauge, get a new box and possibly an HO alternator and sound dampening and I'll be good.
