Question Thermostat

Does anyone know where the thermostat is on a '98 Chevy Cavalier?
I had the water pump changed but it still overheats when I turn on the heater on my car. All I can think now is a hose (can't seem to find a leak) or the thermostat. Can anyone help?

Re: Thermostat

The thermostat should either be at the water pump or at the housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. On my '97 it's stamped onto that housing that the thermostat is located at the waterpump IIRC.

Re: Thermostat

Thank you for your help. I got it changed. Now, lets hope that works to stop it from overheating when I turn on the heater again.

Re: Thermostat

Sounds odd that the car overheats when you turn the heat on. A heater will decipitate heat from the engine. If the vehicle doesn't over heat if you don't turn the heat on, then this problem mystifies me. Sorry I couldn't be more help, this is the first I've ever heard of a situation like this.
