windshield wipers
I have a 97 monte carlo. For about a month their was smoke coming from the steering column when I turned on my wipers and the wipers were constantly running up and down a little even when the wipers were in the off position I had to take out the fuse for them to stop. Now the wipers won't work at all. Please help if it's the wiper motor can you tell me where the motor is located. Thanks.

Hello.The wiper motor is located under the air inlet panel,(bottom of windshield).But it sounds like you have a short in wire harness inside the steering coloum,(Bummer).Maby the wiper switch is bad??. Usaully,If the wiper motor is frozen or obstructed,The fuse should pop.Is it the right size fuse in the fuse panel.If there is a bigger amp fuse in the panel,You are inviting an electrical fire,You do not want that!!Good luck,And let me know what happens...Diesel 1962
