poll: what is rice and what is not

I think that we can all agree that a stock engine in a civic with 10k in cosmetic mods is pure ricer but where should we draw the lin between rice and a japaneese enthusiest car? I personal would laugh at somone for scofing at a 600hp Supra mark4 or a 300zx as a ricer. What are your thoughts?

Re: poll: what is rice and what is not

I could go on for hours....

Rice is an attitude as well as having no taste in the mods you do to your car. No matter the power output.

I love power....but I hate distasteful appearance mods.

And not all rice is bad. I am kinda hardline when it comes to my description. Basicly...if it doesn't add performance it is ricey.
I have a couple things on my car I would call ricey. Embroidered headrests, white faced gauges, different WS.6 badge. Those things are ricey to me, but like I said, it isn't always a bad thing.

800 RWHP Supra....Most that have that kinda power tend to have a bunch of exterior mods as well. Just because they make that power doesn't mean they aren't ricey.

I could agree with that but I have seen sleeper Supras completly stock on the outside (even stock wheels) with 600+ hp on the inside. I love sleepers they give me goosbumbs

Re: poll: what is rice and what is not

I dont think that tasteful exterior mods are rice, but when its something that you just look at and think, Why God why, thats when I feel things have gone to the Rice Side of the Force. Also, like Mr Luos said, its an attitude. You can have a stock car or a sleeper with 800 hp, but you can still be a ricer in my book.

Re: poll: what is rice and what is not

i believe you can have a car with cosmetic cars without a lot of power without being rice, but they have to be tasteful like everyone else is saying. for example... NO PARK BENCHES!!!!

I agree. As for spending 10k in exterior mods I certainly wouldn't call that rice. For instance some lowriders spend a lot more then that on their cars, and I wouldn't venture to call a proper lowrider ricey even though they don't have many if any performance parts. Same if it's a civic as long as it looks good. If the visual mods however don't look like they belong there then you could venture to call the car ricey.

Rice isn't all about someones bad taste in exterior mods. It's also about a persons ignorance.

I think for the most part people who know about performance are usually less prone to being rice. The lack of car knowledge often causes people to make up shit about performance that isn't true, like claiming your exhaust, and octane booster pumped your sohc auto neon to 300hp.

Same applies to people that don't know anything about racing, like double clutching during a race to be faster, or claiming your mustang GT runs a 10 second quartermile with new exhaust, and intake you put on.

If the person just plain has a bad attitude that too can contribute. Flips people off whenever he loses, fly-by's, or talkin' smack about other cars, just because it's not their preffered car.

Rice is a way of life more then one particular thing.

Those are the ones I like. Leave it stock on the outside and dump a ton of mods on the motor.
The Supra is a sexy car. It is just too bad a lot of them get into the wrong hands.

EVERYTHING IS RICE! neons, carbon-fiber, bodykits, spoilers, stickers, flashy paint jobs, collored rims, nos, turbos, supercharges, racing seats, roll cages, coilovers. ITS ALL RICE.
A car should be 100% stock other wise its rice. you can add turbos and stuff to make it fast but dont ever pop your hood yo, that way no one knows you are ricing.

Ok seriously.
we owe alot to the aftermarket. If it wassnt for all the body kits and spoiler and all the APC steering wheels sold ever year then we would be having a hard time modding. I personally think if it adds performance then its not rice. But there are those here who could care less if it makes power or not, they want everything to be a sleeper.

I personally hate stock looking cars. if you can personalize it then go for it.

Rice can be summed up in one sentence.

It is the attitude that how much attention your car gets is more important than how well it actually works.

Re: poll: what is rice and what is not

I do think that adding superficial mods that do nothing is definately a form of rice. But I believe its more about the mind set, and the hollow cockiness many of them show, as well as disrespect for other drivers

their cars are part 1...their mind set is part 2

90% Mentality, 5% Car, 5% Up to you. Beauty is in hte eye of the beholder. As long as it matches, and you deep down inside, truely, 100% feel it looks good, then I don't think its rice. If it is obviously hideous, and you think so, but play it off that its awesome, then its rice. I think it is the mentality above all.
