F&F Supra *new pics added*

i know there are a few of us out there building or planning to build the supra from the fast and the furious. just wanted to share my progress. i cant wait to finish it. this is a shot of the front bumper. its not done. i still have to add a little bit more putty to the front to make it accurate. i will post more pics when i have something new to take pictures of. let me know what you think.

Your progress is good, u have captured the overall shape well although one thing i would say is that the opening is too wide. My progress on the transkit has been v slow due to all the other stuff im doing right now, ive got as far as the hood...

The hood looks perfect! I see what your saying about the opening being too big. i'll work on fixing that with some more putty. thanks for the input

Nice front bumper COZMO6476. i was wondering what kind of putty do you use, and what kind of mold do you use to make the front bumper if any was used at all.
Sweet hood flyonthewall...how did you get the holes to look so clean. What drill did you use?

Its all done with the help of a dremel, No11 blade and a little sanding.

How are the Supras coming along? I'm very interested in this subject, as it is my favourite car, by far. (Have a few ideas on improvement, but i'll keep 'em to myself...) Any progress lately? I would love to do one myself some day...

the supra is coming along. lots of puttying and reputtying has been going on over the past weeks. takes time for the putty to cure fully. wish i could get my hands on some plastic stock. no one around me sells any . i've almost completed the front bumper and side skirts. the pieces on the tail are coming along. i cut the roof for the targa top but still have to carve out the hood openings like Flyonthewall did. im still awaiting the rims to come from HLJ. i will post some pics when i get home from work. got some sparco seats from studio 27 for the interior. looking for some spare parts from other kits to convert into additional interior details like the guages on the dash and A pillar. lots of work still needed before i even prime the sucker. just be patient.

still not sure how im gonna make the decals. there is silver in them. i cant produce that on my inkjet. i have white decal paper but it is really really thick. will not look good. may have to mask and paint white onto the body and then use the clear decal instead. we will see... not even close to that stage yet. be patient.

i have the decal ready to print. what im worried about is what kind of decal paper to use on my inkjet printer. i have clear and white decal sheets. i can print some of it on a white decal paper so the colors look better. or i can mask the body and paint it white where the decal will go and use the clear decal paper. i dont want to use the white decal paper because it is very thick and will not follow the contours of the car as well as the clear. we will see. i'm going to play around with the decals before i start laying them down on the actual model

Consider printing it on a laser printer / copier. It will look much better (i've done some research ) and be more stable. Take your design to a copy shop (they might be even able to print it out through the copier directly from the disk. *Maybe* there are some color laser copiers around that print in white. If any of you know about them, PLEASE DO TELL!

Alex (wishes good luck and wants to hear more about decals - like what paper have you got and where you got it)

i will look into finding printing services around me. it would be great if they could print white on my clear decal sheet. FYI, i bought the decal paper from baremetalfoil.com.

If I had to make decals that incorporate sliver/chrome sections, I can't think of any way to do it other than make a bottom layer decal, make a silver layer out of BMF, and make a top layer for the rest of the detail. I know it may be getting a bit thick at this poing, but that's not entirely unrealistic...

AFAIK, only ALPS printers can print with white ink. I don't know much about them, but that's a name you can search for...
