92, 3.1, spark plug problem

i just recently baught a 92 corsica with a 3.1. It origionally ran kinda rough but me and my dad got it running better. here is my problem: the spark plug in the #3 cylinder keeps getting the gap squashed after it gets put in. we have eliminated the piston hittin it (it woulda smashed it to crap) we think that it is possible that the previous owner screwed the threads and the plug goes in crooked and near the end of the threads hits somthing. it is finger turnable up until near the end.

all i can say is HELP!

I have never seen this happen so I may be wrong, but, I do not see how you could screw up the threads THAT badly so as to cause it to hit something solid like that in combustion chamber. Just to d/c, are these the right plugs for this motor? Is there a chance carbon build up may be causing this? Does the plug look like a metallic object hit it, or does it have any material in it like carbon? I would think you could get a shorter plug, just may have to do some research on it. Ask the folks at NAPA or Advance etc. for alternates. Would not be as efficient, but would be better than this.

thanks for the reply, i figured i had a unique problem but i thought maybe i would try this forum. The plugs are the right one for this car. and it looks like the tip pf the plug sorta scrapped on the side when it was screwing in. im also lookin at gettin a new hole put in for like 50 - 100 bucks and if that fixes is i got a super cheep car

When I have had a bad spark plug hole I have always been able to salvage it with a "re-tapping tool from Autozone, Napa etc

How do you keep the chips and dirt out of the cylinder chamber when you re-tap the spark plug hole?

they will just burn out dont worry about the little metal flakes thats what i did prolly not smart but hell it worked and in my 91 cavalier i had to put plugs in the back and well when i did i cross threded one of the plugs and never was able to get it right again so i just bent the tip of my plug and reshaped it and it worked beautiful afterwords just cranked it in nice and tight
