ABS Recall Right Side Only

I took my truck into the Chevy dealer to get an appointment for the ABS recall and the guy says they don't take appointments for the recall. I would have to drop the truck off in the morning and pick it up late in the afternoon. Fluck that!!! I went across the street to the GMC dealer and after writing out why I wasn't taking my truck to Chevy they agreed to do the work. They only checked the right side...they said that's all the recall called for. Is that right?

Question Re: ABS Recall Right Side Only

Not true on the r/s only. Was the truck giving you the problem, or just doing the recall because of the notification??

Korndogg, this recall is not by states, you should have gotten the recall notice, don't wait here, follow up with a dealer why you were not notified.

Re: ABS Recall Right Side Only

I agree on that recall. Why not wisconsin. My burb has that problem and the GM dealer won't look at it unless I pay $65.00. His reply is its not a recall in wisconsin. I guess the white roads don't mean nothing .

It says more likely, I believe this can be done on warranty on a per case basis by the dealer. What if someone moved into the state from NY?, ask him to re-read the recall bulletin.

Re: ABS Recall Right Side Only

I'll have to go back and show them that the burb came from Mich. I got it used.

I think I would speak to the SM and let him know how his front desk dropped the ball with this, they should have asked you some questions relative to the vehicles point of origin or more importantly where it was registered, I guess this should solve the issue now, seeing as the truck was in Michigan.!!

The truck was giving me problems but not that bad so I did the recall because of the notification. The thing is I replaced the whole hub with sensor on the left side and want to send the receipt in to be reimbursed but I can't do that if it's only for the right side.
I told them that the left side was new but that's when the guy told me that only the right side gets checked.

That is incorrect information.
The recall states that BOTH wss are to be inspected!
Also there is a reinbursment policy available if you have paid for a repair related to the concern.

Boy you jumped on that just before I did, what a lot of crap, this dealers service personel need some re-training. When I was a SM for Cad/Old, and a customer confronted me with a mishandled issue like this, bodies would have been flying out the back door!

I bought my 2000 Silverado in May of this year from a dealer in CT. The truck spent it's whole life in NY and I live in Delaware. I got a recall notice saying to take it in and have them look at it. It's BOTH sides. I'm not sure how GM was able to know the truck was from NY, but I'm glad they did.
