Horsepower
I have a 95 Sonoma with 180,000 miles. It still runs good but I'm waiting on the day I have to replace the engine. It has a 2.2 in it and I would like to put another in it but want more horsepower. Nothing extreme but something.

Re: Horsepower
i would go with a new exhaust or cold air intake. if you want to get extreme you could turbo or supercharge it.

Re: Horsepower
I had a 94 S10 and the top end made it to 198K miles before the head cracked because of the fins on the water pump disolved and didn't circulate the coolant anymore. $1,200 for the new head and parts, but it did run a lot better. I would sale the 2.2 and get the V6, it has alot more power then the 2.2 (0 to 60) that afternoon, but the V6 uses a lot more gas then the 2.2, (my V6 gets 16MPG if I drive the freeway), the 1994 2.2 got 25 all the time. But after 200K everything started to break, 5-speed tranny, clutch, EGR (2x's), MAS, but it finally made it over 300K miles before I sold it for $1,400.00

Re: Horsepower
the 4.3 is a good engine to use. I've got Cold Air Intake and a Ravin exhaust. it definitely has some added horsies, but still nothing major. I do like the 2.2 for the fuel economy, but yeah it is a bit gutless
