Does fully synthetic plus a little Lucas oil stabilizer work well in the 3.9L?

I'm going to change the oil right away in the 3.9L Dalota I just bought. I've read in other threads that you can add ATF to the oil the last 100 kms or so that you drive it before the next oil change to claen it up inside. Any oppinions on this? My choice of oil is always Mobil 1 plus a little Lucas oil stabilizer for our other vehicles. I'm also going to throw a 100lb magnet on the oil pan to collect metal particles and get some of those autolite plugs you guys have been raving about.

Don't use anything but Champion plugs in Chrysler products.

Sorry BleedDodge, I don't agree

Most of the Dakota guys on my forums use NGK or Autolites. They perform the best!!! I use NGK and I notice a difference compared to the Champs

Using a good synthetic oil like mobil 1 is good enough, you don't need a 100lb magnet. At 300,000 miles the damage has already been done.

Re: Does fully synthetic plus a little Lucas oil stabilizer work well in the 3.9L?

I'll be checking the compression right away to see how 312,000 kms holds up. To get that kind of kms on a 97, the owner put on an average of almost 35,000 kms a year! It must mostly be highway k's.

So how easy is it to hear the popping sound on a worn out upper ball joint anyway? So far I've ran across railroad tracks a bunch of times and listened for any suspention issues, but I can't hear any problems at all.

That's pretty brave to use anything else...
