Intermittent jerking in acceleration

I have a 96 sonoma(2.2l) 130k and it has recently developed
a severe jerking when accelerating. I have changed plugs, & air filter
so far. I would appreciate some advice regarding the best
approach to repair this as it is intermittent. I would like to know the
most likely cause before radomly replacing items. From researching this and other threads I understand that the problem could be any of the following;
PVC valve, distributor cap, fuel fiter, fuel pump, plug wires, vacumn hoses, MAF, oxygen sensors, fuel injectors or ECM

Am I missing anything obvious ?
What is the best approach in troubleshooting/repairing this problem?

Duane

Does the catalytic converted seem to be stopping up? I have a 95 and it broke loose inside and had to be replaced. You can also remove it and clean it out. Mine jerked and lost power.

Thanks for the response,

I'll keep it in mind,
I replaced the O2 sensor, PCV, Fuel filter and added injector cleaner
today. If that doesnt work I'll take a look at the CAT and thought
I'd try change the plug wires next.

Any luck? I have a 94 with the 2.2 and have the same problem. Some times it runs fine, then suddenly bucks like a bronco. I have replaced the fuel filter, wires, pcv valve, tps, and used injector cleaner, with no luck.
