me vs 5.0

This story isnt that interesting but something new to post.......basically me and my cousin go out to get something at the gas station for a poker game (texas hold-em) of course.....anyways we end up in a two lane turning lane.........I get to the first left lane and sitting right on the second left lane sits a 5.0.....the guy looks at me and throws a baby rev maybe 2000rpm worth......so I do the same......then he throws a bigger one......so I do the same.......then he bounces off his rev limiter....but I didnt do the same.....at this rate we are just seeing who can rev their car faster...lol any ways the light turns green and we go I hold it in first on the turn hoping he wasnt going to hit it on the turn... cause we are so close to each other and in the turn he might spin out and hit me.... and we might end up bustin a unwanted drift....so he waits till we are straightend out and then hits it I do the same......he gets the jump but after my second gear going in to third I have already pulled him.....and at the end of third he was about four cars back.....I slow down to see if he wanted to go again but he just smiled with his (blinging grill) and said nahhh man Im coo.....so we just drive off....I think it was stock with just some flows.....

hahah you know that reving a 5.0 to 2K is not a baby rev since they barely rev to 6K. the yellowline on the tach starts at 5.5K.

Re: me vs 5.0

True, in stock form i believe they make max HP at around 4800rpm. That's due to the very restrictive E7 Heads, the exhaust & intake dont' help either. Anyhow, good kill. Doesn't seem like he was an ass like the ones i run into in AZ.

Re: me vs 5.0

Yep, throw some performance heads on and a nice intake and exhaust and the ole' 5.0 revs AGGRESIVELY to 6,000 rpms. I know, I have one.

Re: me vs 5.0

Isn't the SRT redline like at 5000rpm? Being a turbo engine i didn't think it would be or am i wrong?

Re: me vs 5.0

I think the SRT-4 redlines at 6000 rpms, same as a 5.0. So the term baby-rev applies the same to both cars.

Re: me vs 5.0

nice lil race

and the Legacy revs to 6500 with a turbo motor and the 2.5L boxer...but My friends 2.5Rs only revs to 6000, but thats due to his SOHC

Re: me vs 5.0

ive researched a lot of stuff about my car and engine but raising the redline if it can make power higher isnt something ive ever really looked into. but apparently its makin it most power at redline so im thinkin it could possibly make power higher but idk. but idk how much changing the heads are going to help, its got pretty decent heads stock.

Re: me vs 5.0

well idk how my tq line is stock, but it maxes at 2750. i looked into some and it seems that in stock form it keeps making good power till about 5850, and when boosted does it well over 6000.
