colour question
Has anybody tryed to airbrush tamiya ENAMEL gloss clear over a tamiya ACRYLIC MATT paint? Is it possible to get a perfect gloss finish out of it, or is it a defenatly NO-NO

Don't spray enamels over acrylics.

Tamiya sez it can be done....
Tamiya paint guide ...but in general, I wouldn't consider enamel over acrylic a safe practice.

Also as a general rule, the harder the chemical makeup of the paint the better chances of painting over.
E.g. Automotive paint can be painted over with hobby paint and subsequently waterbased paints . . . However, this can't be done in reverse. . . In any case. . . Mixing mediums is still a big "no no". . . Quote:

It can be done, but is not 100% safe and why would you want to? Better to find a good acrylic clear and use that.
