wont turn over?:S
i recently aquired a 1989 caprice classic, when i go to start it it wont turn over at all....all the guage lights come on but when i turn the key all the lights go out. i already replaced the fuel pump relay and the corresponding fuse for it, new battery, new positive cable, rebuilt starter.... any ideas on what could be keeping the starter from getting power?

Re: wont turn over?:S
Check the wires going to the starter, especially the ground.

Check the wires going to the starter, especially the ground. Also check the relay that engages the starter.

Trace the wires going up from the starter for a bad fusible link. If it is blown, the wire will stretch very easily.
Also check the ignition switch, which is located on the steering column, you have to drop the column (2 bolts) to access it. Bob |
