swapped out engine

I had a machanic put a 2000 4cy engine in a 1996 ford contour GL. The engine runs great but it will not hold a battery charge overnight. Also in drive mode the hazard indicator clicks without prompting. Any help will be appreciated.

something is definetely installed incorrect and is shorting causing the battery to drain overnight. Id check all your grounds.

I am looking at three wires coming from the alternator, one white, one yellow and one brown. how do i identify the hot from ground or what should the hook up be. the battery is still draining. thanks in advance for any help.

there should be a big red wire in there somewhere...has a rubber boot that goes over the nut.
