I just bought a 350w ALPINE AMP (MRP-M350 1 Channel V-Power Class-D Mono Amplifier) and 2 12" JL Audio W0 subs. I have no idea about car audio or even cars in general. What kind of wiring kit would i need to hook this up??? How many gauges? or Watts? and is there anything else i need? Please help me...Would i be able to use a walmart wiring kit that is 5 gauges and 1400watts?

Re: This will take a second of your time, Help an amateur!
you would probably be better off buying a wiring kit from best buy or something. You'd probably want to go with either 4 or 8 guage wire. depending on if you are going to upgrade at all. i would probably go with 4. the kit will probably run about 60 bucks. total guess there. just drop by and check them out. it will include everything you need, well it should at least. except for maybe your RCA and speaker wires. the RCA wires run from the deck to the amp and the speaker wires from the amp to the subs. anymore questions ask away.

I'd just get the wal-mart kit. It's Scosche. My buddy paid $60 for the kit from Circuit City and I paid $20 for the EXACT same thing from Wal-Mart. Same barcode number.

If they were different kits though, I'd have done like hightek said, and gone with the reputable audio store. But seein' as Scosche is a pretty reputable brand used by a lot of pro's, I don't see the reason to pay double/triple for the same product.

you might find that buying the wires seperate can save you some money. Some 8 guage welding wire would work. then you can either make your own rca's or buy them seperate, and a small (any guage really) wire for remote an u will be set. but for that amp you wont need anthing more than 8 guage.

HOME DEPOT!
Thats where all the cheap ass people like me get their wire. Dont ly people fool you. Wire is Wire, if its copper Home Depot 4ga will conducts just as well as the audio stores 4ga wre for like $5/ft i paid $15 maybe for all of my wire including my 1/0 for my big 3 its just harder to work with because of hte lower strand count so if you are expecting some long intricate routeing path... welind wire would be best. or just a cheap walmart kit. However, Always use the largest guage wire your amp will allow, this isnt for loudness, its to keep the amp cool and efficent. |

That would work, but I'd rather get Scosche for the same price.

Re: This will take a second of your time, Help an amateur!
i was under the impression that knukonceptz was a little better than schoshe, am i wrong here?
i'm pretty sure your amp can take up to probably 0 guage. this is ALL you need for a single amp setup -power wire -fuse and fuse enclosure -ground wire -speaker wire -rca wire it can get more in depth like if you ever plan on adding a second amp then you would want a distro block or something like that. but i think you just want to hook up your one amp for right now |
