AWD turbo alternatives to Evo or Sti?

I want a Lancer Evolution or WRX Sti. I like everything about either car in stock form. I wouldn't want to modify them.

I can afford neither car new or used. I own a 2000 Honda Prelude Type SH in good condition with 90k. I want a piece of the rally pie that I could not buy when I settled for my FWD "sporty" car in 2000. I am tired of FWD and I can't legally or reasonably turbo this car with its ATTS transmission (excellent as stock, however).

Can anyone recommend any of these alternatives as being able to match the specs of an Evo or Sti when modified? Also, can I achieve this and also pass emissions in CA? That last thing is a must. With 3000-3200lbs, I'd like at least 300 horsepower if not a little more.

1) Subaru WRX 2002

2) 90-93 Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo

3) 91-93 Isuzu Impulse RS AWD Turbo

I've seriously considered an SR20DET 240SX, which would be great, but I can't afford to mess around with a car that is such trouble to keep legal with the JDM motor. Not an option.

I concur! 1g DSMs (pre 95 Talons, Eclipses, and Lasers) and the 2gs (Talons and Eclipses). They can all be made very fast for not much money.

I know it weighs more than your desired 3200lbs, but what about a Mitsubishi 3000GT?

or stealth R/T....but those cars are pigs....I like them, but after driving a couple, i don't like them as much anymore. I drove a 96 VR4 and it was fast, but it was a bigger car than i want....
